School renovation BenJos primary school Mathare
Because Covid children were at home for almost a whole year in Kenya and everyone was
happy when the schools finally were allowed to open doors again.
Unfortunately, this was not the case for teacher Benter as her school underwent an inspection
and she was not allowed to open the school for her students as the place was not in a good
state inside and also outside.
The center’s income is her school. She also has a family to take care of and even her own children
where about to go back to school but how could she pay their school fees if she could not start
her work herself.
And also her students could not go back so she was also about to lose her students to a
different school.
Foundation Move Up together with the school and the inspector made a list about what was
needed to open the school as soon as possible and we budgeted the costs of the renovation
which came round € 300
Thanks to the support from many well-wishers and Foundation Red Ribbon we could start the
rebuilding project already one week later.
We worked hard for 1 week and just one month later than the rest of the school’s BANJOS
PRIMARY SCHOOL finally could open their doors
We celebrated the opening with the kids and their smiles were priceless
Education is the key to a better future. Foundation Move Up is grateful that we could help
many children to go back to school
